SEE Law Journal No.14 is now available online

This issue of the SEE Law Journal is structured in two parts, reflecting both the Journal’s regular publishing activity and its engagement with focused academic debate on emerging legal challenges.
The first part of the issue comprises articles accepted through the Journal’s regular submission and peer-review process. These contributions address core questions of contemporary public and constitutional law, with particular attention to procedural guarantees and access to justice.
The second part of this issue brings together contributions selected also through peer-review, presented and discussed at the academic workshop “Navigating the Future: Law in the Age of AI”, organised within the project “Human Rights and Technology: Bridging the Gap with AI Applications (HARTech)”, supported by the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service and the German Federal Foreign Office. The project was implemented by the Europa Institute of Saarland University and the SEELS Network. The articles included in this section examine the implications of artificial intelligence and digital technologies for fundamental rights, regulatory models, and the functioning of legal and administrative systems.
Taken together, the contributions collected in this issue invite careful reflection on how law responds to structural change while remaining anchored in its foundational principles.
The SEE Law Journal continues to welcome original and unpublished contributions that examine current legal developments from doctrinal, comparative, interdisciplinary, or policy‑focused perspectives. We particularly encourage submissions that offer insights relevant to South East Europe, the European Union, or the broader legal context in which these jurisdictions operate.

13 Edition of the SEE Law Journal is published

We are glad to announce that the latest, thirteenth issue of the SEE Law Journal is now online

Thiis edition of the SEE Law Journal, remains to serve as  an online platform for the scholars comming from the SEELS Network who once again were joined in this scientific publication to present and share their research and insights.

This edition is a double issue for the 2024, that brings together an insightul collecton of papers addressing critcal contemporary legal issues across the European Union and South East Europe.

These artcles, and the collectve body of work presented here, serve not only as academic research but as vital contributons to the ongoing development of legal systems that promote
justce, fairness, and human rights.

We believe that this latest edition will continue to spark vivid debate between scholars, practitioners and policy makers. 

Call for Applications - ELEC Boot Camp, September 2024

We are glad to inform you that the Call for applications for the upcoming Boot Camp - "Students, EU enlargement policy and EU integration - the good, the bad, and the active" which will be held from 18 to 21 of September at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade is now open. 

The boot camp "Students, EU enlargement policy and EU integration - the good, the bad, and the active" aims to provide the students with an intensive learning experience and give them a comprehensive understanding of key aspects related to EU enlargement policy, EU integration, the use of digital resources in learning and researching EU law, the promotion of active youth participation in EU politics and the broader process of EU integration.

The Boot camp is organized within the project “Preparing for EU Accession: The Future of the Western Balkan Countries” implemented by the Europa Institut, University of Saarland (Germany), and the Faculties of Law, members of the SEELS Network. The project is funded by the the Higher Education Dialogue Programme of the DAAD.

Please find enclosed the Program, Call for Application, Application Form, Rules and Regulations as well as the Promo Flyer for the event. Please make sure to read them thoroughly and carefuly as only the correctly submitted applications will be considered.

The deadline for submission is 2 of August 2024 23:59 CET.

Education

 
SEELS aims to further harmonise curricula across the SEE region and to organise and offer additional postgraduate and doctoral courses as well as summer schools. At the same time SEELS also supports the exchange of lecturers and students among the participating law schools and invites leading international academics and practitioners to South Eastern Europe. Besides, SEELS designs programmes of executive training for different legal professions.

Research

 
SEELS facilitates intensified academic legal research in the region by connecting leading academics in the fields of common interest and organises joint conferences, research programs  and forums. Thereby, the academics of the region are linked with their counterparts from the leading European or other international law schools and research institutes.

Publishing

 
SEELS provides quality and easy accessible regional publications on relevant legal topics, publishes proceedings, analyses, findings and research papers from organised legal research forums and other events. SEELS also publishes the SEE Law Journal which is the first regional law journal in English language in South East Europe. It offers legal researchers and practitioners a discursive space for scholarly exchange on the issues of legal reform and harmonisation on the domestic level in direct relation with questions regarding regional cooperation as well as European integration.
